Why SiteSolved Uses XML

An XML file (Extensible Markup Language) is a content specific format designed to be used between applications.  An XML file is effectively, the content and descriptions of that content.

HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) has been the standard language used on the Internet since its inception.  In today's complex web environments, HTML is still used to render a page inside a browser, but as a file format it is not the best way to store content.

Many systems use databases to create more dynamic web sites but databases alone often limit content use.

SiteSolved uses XML as the basis of its data storage as it makes the content more portable, scalable without having to reprogram, and once in XML, content can be stored and reused in a variety of applications.

This sort of flexibility also allows content reuse and repurposing for applications you haven't even considered yet. XML data can be converted from one format to another allowing us to integrate with new internal computer systems and legacy systems alike.

If, for example, you want to add a new database field to your press release archive, you do not need to call in the programming team - simply add a new parameter in SiteSolved, and the XML will be rewritten in the background.

In addition to live integration, XML data can be exported from SiteSolved to be used in offline projects such as multimedia CDs or print projects.
